Mvuu lies in the heart of a prime stretch of the river that offers exceptional fishing.
Trophy Tiger of up to 9kg have been landed and
recorded here, and many people have achieved
their personal best angling this area of the lower Zambezi.
The waters surrounding Mvuu are varied, from long sand beds, to shallow flood plains
and deep rocky pools. Because of this,
other species such as Bream, Chessa, Nkupi,
and the legendary Vundu, are also prolific.
A typical angling day at Mvuu begins at dawn, with the boats equipped and guides ready to
take you to the prime spots. If Tiger fishing is
on the agenda, then a short stop to catch
bait fish, such as Chessa, will be the first call of the day. Morning angling sessions
normally last
until about 10am, at which time we return to camp for brunch and refreshments.
Afternoon sessions commence at 3pm once the midday
heat has passed, and carry on until sunset
when you can toast to your days’ success with a sundowner, whilst floating down the magnificent
river. Fishing is normally broken up into early morning and / or afternoon sessions, but it can
also be organised as a full day activity.

Tracker boat fitted with an 80hp 4-stroke Mercury engine and Fish Finder. Two Escapes
fitted with 60hp 4-stroke Mercury engines and radios.

Pontoon fitted with 2 x 60hp Yamaha engines. Onboard facilitles include a toilet and a bar.
Each boat is fitted with safety equipment and basic fishing equipment such as rods, reels, landing nets. No lures or spinners are provided.
All fishing is done on a catch and release basis. Our guides are highly experienced fishermen
and boatmen, so rest assured that
you will be given the best opportunities to catch that Trophy fish.
Mvuu also sports its own flotilla of canoes. Canoe safaris, whilst not an everyday item
on the activity schedule,
can on request be slotted in and tailored to your requirements.
Canoeing on the Lower Zambezi river is an extremely special experience and a wonderful way to appreciate
the splendour and beauty of this amazing river.
The game, bird life small islands and inlets are many of
the wonderful sights that await you as you drift down river at your leisurely pace.

Early morning or evening game drives in our open Toyota Landcruiser vehicle are offered
into the surrounding lower Zambezi National Park
and Chiawa game management area. These
areas are rich in wildlife and are right in our backyard. Take a closer look at our
gallery to see what you
can expect to find whilst out on a game drive.
The most common sights are the ever present impala, kudu, huge herds of buffalo and elephant
(herds and single bulls). Lion, leopard and hyena are also
often seen in close proximity to
the camp. In addition we have had sightings of the more secretive, animals such as genet,
pangolin and serval.

The Lower Zambezi valley offers a wide range of bird habitats,
and because of this we can promise exceptional bird watching to
our guests.
The types of terrain surrounding us include escarpment,
riverine, wetland and bushveld. This means that a wide variety of
bird species can be
found in a highly concentrated area.
The bush around the lodge is home to a variety of resident birds such as starlings, parrots, coucaals, owls, lovebirds, cuckoos, and shrikes.
The surrounding bushveld and game park area has many raptors, vultures,
ground hornbills, rollers, pheasants, and bee eaters. The river and
tributaries
has fantastic bird watching such as kingfishers, skimmers,
waders, plovers, herons, and the world famous carmine bee-eaters, that
nest in the
banks near the camp. Whether you are in camp, cruising on the
river, fishing or game viewing there’s always something to see.

The mighty Zambezi River is truly a sight to behold and one of the best ways to experience its beauty
is on a river cruise. Our two hour sundowner cruise
is a magical way to enjoy this river, floating
quietly down with a Gin and tonic in hand watching the sunset behind the mountains and the sights
and
noises of the varied wildlife that seem to congregate on the river edges as the sun sets.
It is especially humbling to watch the large herds of elephant wander to the waters edge and either
just drink or immerse themselves in the water and
cavort and frolick amongst themselves… A truly
special experience. The birdlife too is amazing, truly a birdlovers paradise with the carmine bee
eater
being a popular attraction. This is the perfect way to end your day.
We can organize full days into the National park, half days or just sundowner cruises and of course if
you would like a rod in the water while you are
cruising that can also be arranged. Our pontoon boat
is the perfect vehicle for river cruising. It accommodates 15 people and has onboard facilities
including a toilet and bar. River cruises are generally done in the early morning or evening and
are the ideal way to comfortably cruise the river and
enjoy sundowners whilst game viewing.

offers Photographic Safaris and Photographic workshops with
Marcus Jooste,
a Zambian based photographer.
